All Skate! and A Night At "The Bird"

Meg renting skates. Orange vest alert! (Hold the whistle, please.)

Me playing with the camera on the way home-I took several pics just so the flash would keep me awake. As you can tell, I am wearing my seat belt like a good girl.

A rather poor quality pic here, but you can see that I AM on wheels. Hard to believe I've had these skates since fifth grade!

For some reason, it appears as though we have been slathered up in oil. Actually, it was 900 degrees at the skating rink and we were working pretty hard, too. Oh yeah, and the "orange vest" boys may have had a bit to do with it.

Meg claims she hasn't been on wheels in 15 years, but I'm still skeptical. Here, it appears she has been practicing for the cup game.

And some more of Meg's fancy foot work.

Saturday night was a well-deserved GNO (Girls' Night Out) for Meg and I. Despite the fact we attempt to make some sort of "plan" for our GNO's, we never follow through with an organized itinerary of events. Impromptu outings always get a little crazy, and Saturday was no exception.

Meg mentioned roller skating, which I believe, was in a half-joking manner. Nonetheless, I instantly became fixated on the idea. We ended up driving around Muncie for a good 45 minutes in search of a skating rink. We knew it existed, but finding it was an entirely different story.

I pulled into Speedway for a dual-purpose pit-stop--so we could get directions and so I could show Meg my tattoo. Okay, so it wasn't real and it's already faded from my flesh, but it was a cute little "TNT" number that I got in the mail for joining a fireworks club this summer. (Another something I found in my "rarely-use-but-do-not-throw-away" cabinet.) Getting directions proved to be less fun. The lady at the register said something to the effect of, "Oh yeah! I know where that's at. I live right off of that street. Now let me think..." Um, alrighty.

Needless to say, her directions were quite vague. So we gestured wildly at a friendly looking fellow at a stoplight so he'd roll his window down. Even though his vehicle advertised his real estate business, he hadn't a clue where the hell Mock Avenue was. Um, alrighty.

So we reverted to the ladies half-assed directions and eventually reached our destination after passing streets with names like "Delawanda" and "Rose Thumb" or something.

I had a semi-nasty little spill, but only because my feet weren't cooperating with the rest of me. The only time Meg fell was because, I quote, "My calves gave out."

Being the hottest 25 year olds in tha house was a plus. Well, come to think of it, we were the only 25 year olds in tha house, though a couple of the "orange vests" looked questionable. Then again, I guess you can't judge the age of a man by the number of hairs on his head.

Much to our dismay, skating was over at 11pm. Since we got a late start, we only got in about an hour of rollering. So we went to BSU campus and decided to check out the scene.

First we went to a crappy bar that I still have no idea what the name of it is. I was half-tempted to get rowdy with a chick who insulted us for taking her table, but then I reevaluated the situation. The $3 cover charge was totally uncalled for, too.The best part about that place was the Dos Equis beer I had and the guy who said that I know how to play "the game." Woo-hoo! Two points for the mama with the mojo!

Then we went to a happenin' little joint called "The Bird," which featured more frat boys than a National Lampoon Video. But it was all good.

Okay, Blogger's getting shishy about letting me post more pics...guess this story will have to be continued...
