Let the Upsets Commence

It was just a matter of time before the flu hit, and sure enough, it did so with a vengeance. I can't recall being this sick from the flu since Thanksgiving of '01. Looking at the positive side, I lost 7 lbs. But then I also gained a killer body ache, have had to take four baths just to relax, lost all endurance I had worked up from working out every day, and am desperately trying to catch up on sleep and work--both of which are becoming crazy to balance now that I only have 7 weeks til G Day.

Oh, but back to the positive end of the spectrum, I did get to catch up on some basketball for my viewing pleasure. I have to admit I haven't kept up with a lot of the NCAA action since back when I played basketball--let's just say, circa the reign of names like UNLV and Duke--but I've always taken a keen interest this time of the year. I like to witness a good upset from time to time, something akin to the #13 seed Bradley whooping on #5 Pittsburgh today. Wow, that was some excitement. I was hoping Bradley would be taking on Bucknell, but of course beating Memphis was a bit farfetched even for that fairytale team. It was kinda like the wishful thinking I had that Indiana would beat Gonzaga. Muahahahaha....Right. (Yes, Frank, I am forced to eat my words.)

I was still in awe over the Northwestern State shot heard 'round the dome when they beat Iowa Friday. That one was actually painful to watch because I was hoping Alford's team would get to move on at least once more. It wasn't like either team was playing to win that day, but rather playing just to keep up with each other. I was kinda pissed about that, but oh well. Kudos to George Mason for gittin-er-done with NC, though. That was one awesome game; really the only one that kept me awake today.

Ah, so...who do I wish it would dwindle down to? Well, I'd quite honestly like to see Bradley and Gonzaga go head to head, though I'm not sure how that works out with the regional brackets and all. I'd also like to see George Mason give Connecticut a run for their money. The funny thing is, I always like Villanova when I was younger because I thought they had a super-cool name (along with Xavier). Now Villanova is actually a force to be reckoned with. Go figure.

I think I'd like to see Bradley or Gonzaga take it all, but if Gonzaga wins, I have one proposal: Adam Morrisson: Cut your hair, ASAP.

I leave this post now with a pic of what happens when you watch a #1 seed Connecticut play a very drained Kentucky team:

They lose; we snooze!

Oooh that is such a great picture of your baby. Also I like your picture posted. Glad that you feel better. I just got over the flu too.

I'm sorry you got the flu. The last time I got the flu was right after my son was born and he got it too. I was not a very fun experience.

Morrisons hair is a throw back to my days. in the 1970s we sported the same hair and the penciled in stash. He is one ugly boy with a lot of passion.

The zags have been fun to watch over the years but they are quickly becoming part of the establishment. I want to finish this run and then from now on I would like to see the Bradleys of the NCAA be the forces to reckon with.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I appreciate it.

I was loving the NCAA as well, took Thur/Fri off work to watch. Was a good time. It hurt to see Iowa lose the way they did.

Go Zags!
