CBS, I Hate You

Last night, my high school alma mater won the state championship in class 3A basketball for the first time since 1932. I would have loved to have seen this history happen before my eyes, but noooo...channel 8 (CBS) decides to air college basketball for that 2 hour time frame. The event was sold out; 3,489 tickets were sold here alone for the big game. So you'd think they'd opt to show the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP on this particular night rather than an NCAA game that can be viewed on about 8 ESPN channels. (Not like anyone around here gives a hoot about UCONN anyway.) So here we were, huddled around the AM radio broadcast like they probably did in 1932, trying to use our imaginations as to who was doing what. Sometimes those announcers would be shrieking with so much excitement that I was envisioning a lotta slam dunking. But I don't think that was the case.

Anyway, it's an exciting day for the big Green and White. Go Trojans!

It's all about money. You give them the right amount, they'll show it. That's how they stay in business.

I'm glad that they had a championship victory. The whole time I was in HS, our football team sucked so we didn't get to go to that many games other than the regular ones and they sucked.

Congrats to your H.S. team. But CBS pays a lot of money to show those games so they are going to get first dibs.

Very cool that they won. Love the idea of sitting around a readio though, sounds kind of fun.

Thanks and yes, at least it SOUNDED good. hehe...I know it's about the $, but without the viewers, what would be the purpose?

Jen: Our football team is horrible, too...They just won a game this past fall for the first time in this century, if that tells you anything!
